Environmentalists? Not Necessarily, Helping Nonetheless....
by Doubtfully Yours inwhether the average jw appreciates it or not (i certainly do not), the wtbts sure is helping in the environmentalists' movement of creating as much a paperless society as possible in order to preserve trees and create other favorable situations for humanity, such as avoiding so much trash and chemical waste involved in the printing/shipping process.. in order to help me adjust to this new phase within the org, i've reasoned it all this way.
anybody else recognizes that this going all out electronic/computerized is, of course, first a most profitable effort, but also has a secondary benefit of helping out to preserve the environment.......?!.

by stuckinarut2 inso after almost a year of complete inactivity and non attendance, i ran into a nice brother from the local congregation.. after some nice chit-chat, he says "we really miss you and your family...etc...you were always the kind and supportive one, the approachable and encouraging one in the congregation.
your absence has confused so many".
i thanked him and said "oh no, no individual has stumbled us.

Many inside, having found out about the Society's flaws, still feel the 'good' far outweighs the 'bad' and make the decision to plow along.
For many so rigidly indoctrinated for time immemorial, the social structure one has become accustomed to can only be found inside this particular group. I fall in this category.
I have also heard some say "find me an organization composed of imperfect humans that is perfect". They intentionally choose to accentuate the correct/positive.

Old Relative Not Happy About Push To Use Ipads Etc
by disillusioned 2 ini was in a close relatives house yesterday and she was having angry and resentful at the push to use electronic devices at the meetings.
she was talking to another relative of mine who has just got an ipad to use.
this relative of mine is very elderly and obviously prefers to use her bible and other books.

I tried my best to resist it as I truly enjoy the written/printed word, but it seems that to do so here in the States means to fall behind big time and being from a crew of hardcore 'all things' JWs, I just couldn't let that happen and still keep the peace.
I gave up and caved as usual.

JW Broadcasting is the likely end of the road for JWs

my recent posts express my reaction to what has happened since.. i just "tuned in" to the jw broadcasting episode for may 2016. it is worth a viewing.
gb member anthony morris describes what is basically the thrust of why this entire effort exists.

Never underestimate the power of the Dollar God, and in this Org, the Dollar God sure is mighty.

The WTBTS has a policy, but there are plenty that will ignore it as 'blood is thicker than water', specially in the Spanish culture where it seems that we're all about family 1st.
I know of this guy that was an elder and his pioneering daughter found a really good 'worldly' guy that treated her like a queen even 'til this day so I hear; she left the pioneering ranks and married this guy. The elder father attended the wedding and even proudly walked her down the isle.
Although some pushed for him to step down he refused and kept on 'til today. He openly said he'd never not attend one of his children's wedding 'cause they're his family and the ones that will see after him in his old age.
He was right; as much hyped up, no bit 'A' yet and he's now an old man, very needy of his children and they treat him very well because he treated them with respect on their decisions; only one remains a JW.
Like his, there are many non-shunning stories in the Spanish JW ranks; screw the WTBTS, family first then the other shenanigans.

Nope!
Many other Orgs, religious/political and otherwise, have taken severe hits in the past, then they rebrand/evolve/merge/whatever and continue on.
These SOBs are going through a whole transformation now; we the old and disgruntled due to their failed promises/prophecies will die off or fall away and the newer version will remain and continue strong as ever, under new management/policies so to speak.
Look them up 20 years down the road, still alive and ticking.

This is the clear reason why they get them baptized young, so that they can apply this shunning whenever they wake up to the fact they do not want to live by the JW standards, or when simply going through the normal hormonal/discovering/growing all young ones go through.
With this type of treatment from the ones a young person loves the most, they will sure return to the JW ranks.

Such a relief not attending the assembly
by atacrossroads ini got a come back to jehovah email from my dad.
the first i have received since i told my mom i was an apostate.
in it he mentioned the assembly that was being held in july.

Glad to hear your marriage survived the WTBTS. I can only daydream mine would.
Hubby and all my immediate family is so entangled with all things JW, hardcore to the max, that my leaving would be pure torture as ALL family and friends I care about are in big time; we're talking Warwick planning/executing, RC coordinating, etc., real JW heavies, and..... me, playing all along as though nothing is wrong and we're all a big, happy, faithful JW family.
